Shepherd Aerial is a professional unmanned aerial systems (UAS) service, located in the heart of the South Lakes, between Kendal and Windermere.
Andrew Brown - our Chief Pilot - is passionate about the field of aerial photography and survey. Utilised by local companies and many individual clients for projects such as land mapping, promotional videos, roof surveys, weddings, personal videos, and structural inspection, Shepherd Aerial is customer orientated.
Combining over 40 years of aviation experience, including twelve as a Royal Navy helicopter pilot, he has profound value for the natural world, and a refined eye for the right perspective. Shepherd Aerial brings all the benefits of a bird's-eye-view, with our unique, beautiful surroundings here in Cumbria, to bring you a first class service.
Legal certification and appropriate indemnity insurance are a required part of all professional unmanned aerial system operations. Before taking the services of any aerial operator make sure they are qualified, certified and insured specifically for the UAS operations you intend them to carry out and at the location you propose.

Structural Inspection
If you are planning to undertake any building projects on your home or assess repairs or damage, it is often worthwhile to inspect the area before attempting work, and that's where we come in saving time and money as well as making the process a lot safer, reducing unnecessary risks.
Thermal Imaging
Infrared imaging can determine surface heat variations. This technology has a number of applications, thermographic scans of roofs can often detect roof leaks for example. Obviously, there's a role for wildlife survey and search and rescue with this valuable capacity.
Search & Rescue
Our Lake District draws walkers from near and far, and in tandem with Mountain Rescue Teams, drones can use aerial scans to save time and energy in locating lost people, or their animal companions. A huge timesaver when trying to locate lost livestock too! Now with thermal tracking.
3D Model Mesh Mapping
Use of 3D model mapping is particularly used for accurate structural quantitative measurement, in relation to construction and architecture. By using precise measurements calculations for costings and planning can be far more realistic. The formats for these mesh models are compatible with architects' and engineering software.
